Week 3
Greetings and praise in God our Savior,
The phrase, "on a clear day you can see forever" says something very meaningful to me. Let me explain. When I am free from clutter, distractions, ailments, and stress, I can actually see "the light of day." Wait a minute. Where do these terms come from? Actually, I believe we say them because at one time they were used in some type of song or lyric. Yet I believe these phrases hold a valuable truth for us as Christians.
Scripture to ponder: Psalm 43:3-5 - "O send out Your light and Your truth, let them lead me; let them bring me to Your holy hill and to Your dwelling places. Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy; and upon the lyre I shall praise You, O God, my God."
I believe deep down every Christian desires clarity in mind and heart toward God and others. This passage gives some insight into what a "clear day" looks like. I'm sure you can see it. Just reading this verse can give us great strength and encouragement. We need to ask the Lord to reveal more of His light and truth to us. Through His Word He guides us and shows us "the light of day." The key is to take time to ponder, pray, and seek His wisdom and truth through His Word.
The next sentence in the verse is the key to the rest of the story and the victory of living in joy today. God sends us His wisdom and direction, but we have to be willing to listen and obey. David knew where his strength came from. He asked God for light and truth. When they were revealed, David desired to take them with him to worship. It is in the presence of God that we embrace exceeding joy. To receive Him, we must determine to take time with Him. David did, and he is our example. What did he do? He worshiped while playing music to God. How do you worship God best? You may not have a harp, lyre, piano, or guitar, but you do have a voice that can be used to honor Him and show Him how much you love Him. Doesn't it make sense that we should express our love for Him?
The blessing of worship is that it can happen wherever we are. Honoring God comes out of the everyday flow of living. Will you burst forth in joy as you worship Jesus this week? I pray that others will desire your presence because of the joy you shine forth in the "clear days" of abiding in Christ.
