Women in Discipleship (sm) Devotionals for 2005 Week 13
Today is filled with many opportunities. I'm traveling with my husband as he works. In the quiet moments while I wait, I have time to ponder, pray, and pen my thoughts. The verse I am reflecting on is from Ecclesiastes.
Scripture to ponder: Ecclesiastes 2:26a - "For to a person who is good in His sight He has given wisdom and knowledge and joy."
I pray for my husband as he works with people. I ask for God's wisdom for him and for me. We both desire to know God in our daily walk. It's not always simple, however. Trials, disappointments, diversions, and complications arise to try and steal our productivity. For today, however, we choose not to let all the negative things take away the joy that comes as we persevere in godliness in our journey.
This verse lists three great gifts that God gives His children. The first is wisdom, then knowledge, and lastly joy. As I consider all the things this life offers, I pray that these three gifts would top the list of requests for each of us!
The author of Ecclesiastes knew the truth of this verse, but later in his life he strayed from it. I pray we will take hold of God's hand and with perseverance and praise continually seek His face. If we do, joy will overflow, and wisdom and knowledge will grow and grow. What great gifts God has given us!
Enjoy these wonderful thoughts this week, dear friends. Sandra Davis for the Women in Discipleship team
