Women in Discipleship (sm) Devotionals for 2005 Week 17
Have you experienced a burst of spiritual joy recently? Isn't it a delight to share the true joy of sincere faith in the Christian experience? When we have the opportunity to see Christ working in His people, the joy of Jesus overflows with abundant delight, and the family of God is blessed.
Scripture to ponder: Philemon 7 - "For I have come to have much joy and comfort in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you, brother."
Isn't this verse an encouragement for Philemon? Paul had a great insight (through the power of the Holy Spirit) to bring out the goodness in others. Paul truly was joyful about the ministry that Philemon participated in. He also prayed for this man on a regular basis (vv.4-6).
What does your life reflect? How do you view others? How do others view you? Paul is not alone in these verses. The word "we" rings out. The company he kept, even though in prison, was one where "great joy" and comfort (consolation) were shared.
Isn't it amazing that Paul, in chains, was filled with this love, joy, and comfort?
It causes me to humbly reflect on my seemingly insignificant trials in comparison to this. And I wonder, how am I sharing this special encouragement with my fellow brethren in Christ?
So today I would like to thank my God for each of you. As I remember you in prayer, I delight to praise our Lord for your faithful service in sharing the gospel in your harvest field, to the praise and glory of God. I pray that you will be refreshed and encouraged in your work of love. May Christ's joy be in you as you labor in His harvest field this week.
Blessings to each of you always, Sandra Davis for the team at Women in Discipleship
