Women in Discipleship (sm) Devotionals for 2005 Week 19
As Christians, everyday we are given opportunities to embrace the ups and downs of what comes our way. Today is a day of quiet reflection for me. In it I am experiencing refreshment, hope, and satisfaction. Not every day is like today. I'm sitting in a lovely mountain setting, spring is in full bloom, and I've had several hours of delightful fellowship with my Lord. Needless to say, days like this are rare.
Scripture to ponder: Isaiah 55:12 - "For you will go out with joy, and be led forth with peace; the mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you and all the trees of the field will clap their hands."
Oh, that this moment would last! Alas, tomorrow will come. Will I be reminded of the joy I have today? My hope is that I will. In this daily life so much comes along to steal our joy. It's in those moments that we need to reflect on days like today to keep the next obstacle from robbing us of the joy of living in Christ. The Lord desires for us to take time to rest and reflect in the midst of the busyness of life.
I'm reminded of what Jesus prayed on our behalf. He asked the Father to remind us of the union we have with Him and the love we share with Him. (John 17:20-26) This is something to ponder that brings joyful delight!
