Devotionals for 2005
Week 21
I received an e-mail today from a pastor's wife. The sermon last Sunday was on joy, and she said it was wonderful. That encouraged me! Sharing about joy in the Christian life makes the heart glad, and God smiles!
Scripture to ponder: Matthew 25:23 - "His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.'"
The true delight for us as Christians will come when our Lord welcomes us into His eternal kingdom. Until then, we have works of righteousness to tend to.
We are very busy people. I frequently find myself getting caught up in work and missing an opportunity to share the love of Christ with joy.
This week we will be given many opportunities to minister to others through love, care, forgiveness, mercy blessing, etc. These opportunities will come in a variety of ways. I pray we won't miss the joy of serving our Master. I pray that our focus will be more on worshiping God through caring for others than on ourselves.
This week make it your goal to be a lighthouse of joy to your family, neighbors, and everyone you meet. This will bring gladness of heart to our Lord. And after all, isn't life to be lived in order to please Him?
