Women in Discipleship (sm)
Weekly Devotionals 2005
Week 47
As the ministry of Women in Discipleship continues to share in the gospel of Jesus Christ there comes up from time to time a need that appears to be beyond our reach and impossible, it would seem, with man.
Scripture to ponder: 2 Corinthians 8:1-2 “Now brethren, we wish to make known to you the grace of God which has been given in the churches of Macedonia, that in a great ordeal of affliction their abundance of joy and their deep poverty overflowed in the wealth of their liberality.”
As I read about the poverty that these believers lived with I am moved by their faithfulness to God. When Paul shared with them the great need of the believers in Jerusalem they, by faith, desired and even begged to participate in the giving. The passage quotes a marvelous miraculous and gracious congregation who gave out of their poverty. They were practically indigent folks yet each one found ways of donating abundant amounts of money to be given for the furthering of Christ’s kingdom. Through their giving they were cared for by God. He saw their willing hearts and provided for all their needs as well. A wonderful thought to ponder.
How incredible it is to see God doing these things in the hearts of believers. Just today I was told of a blessing in giving that was met for a missionary in need. Why are we surprised? God is the One who will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory. (Philippians 4:19)
Women in Discipleship continues to be responsible in our finances as well. We only grow as God provides. Our prayer is that He will provide for The House of Encouragement. It’s seems impossible to us but not to God. We rejoice in His provisions and we see women being encouraged locally and around the world. I’m humbled to be just a small part of our Lord’s great work of reaching the lost for Christ and then leading discipleship groups to be encouraged to serve and give and grow in the Grace of Jesus.
Jesus can and does meet every need for His Family. Poverty in our world is not a hindrance to God’s storehouse of blessing in the beloved. We give because He first gave to us. Praise be to God.
Enjoy the giving of your time, talents and treasures where you are today,
Blessings in Him,
