Women in Discipleship (sm)
Weekly devotionals for 2006
Week Two
Dear Friends:
What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us. 1 John 1:1,2
Have you talked to people who believe the world is millions of years old? One thing is sure. Our God is more than an age. He is infinite!
The first verses of 1 John tell us some amazing things about these men and the One they lived with, witnessed of, loved and proclaimed.
The Word of Life is a Perfect name for the One we call Jesus. We can read this Book of the Bible with great confidence and assurance because of these men.
When John tells us that eternal life was manifested to us he is excited about the fulfillment of all the prophecies proclaiming Messiah. Jesus taught him well!
The Father promised a Seed to come and the time had been 1000’s of years in preparation for the Perfect One to come. See Genesis 3:15
The Word of Life arrived on earth in the form of a Baby. He is perfect and pure, both God and Man. He and His Father are One. See John 10:30. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God..and the Word became flesh…. John 1: 1,2, 14a
The world is old for sure. Just as old as God intends. The facts are sure. God sent His Son. He kept His promise. Eternal life is realized in only one way, through Jesus Christ. See John 14:6; John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9.
QUESTIONS TO PONDER:
Eyewitnesses testify to Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. How are you testifying to the life of Jesus lived out in you today?
Who among your family, friends, co-workers would know that you walk with the Lord?
May we each walk and talk our living faith in Jesus our Savior and Lord daily!
Blessings to all of you,
Sandra Davis for the Women in Discipleship ministry team
