Women in Discipleship (sm)
Weekly Devotionals 2006
Week Five

Dear Friends:

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1: 7-8

Everyone has a desire to be noticed or remembered. In fact we each will be by God!

The light of God shines down from heaven in the form of His dear Son Jesus Christ. Once the living believer(refer to last weeks devotional) is in the Light the walking in His light begins. God's light is brilliant, purifying, and radiant. As we walk daily in the exercise of faith His light reveals the path and fullness He has for us. (Ephesians 2:10)

The Light of God is revealed through the blood of Jesus. We daily need to examine our path and not knowingly turn off from the intended pathway He is leading us on. Daily confession is just like the "red light – green light" of the highway. When we stop for red we can check our need to confess sin. In confession of sin the green goes up and we can proceed in our walk of faith with confidence.

Daily pauses can cause times of confession if we are honest with ourselves and God.

Questions to ponder:

Do you take time daily to examine your heart in the Light of your Living faith in Jesus Christ?

How is your fellowship with other believers?

Have you encountered those who truly believe that they do not sin?
What were your thoughts regarding their words?

Some do deny that sin is something that needs to be addressed. John was dealing with these types of people in his church. He knew that those who believed this lie were indeed living in darkness and were deceived. How about us today? In our own lives what might be going on that seems to be o.k. and is not? Is the Spirit convicting us in those areas?

True fellowship in the church family comes by way of genuine confession and genuine love for the brethren. May we each be willing to love that deeply.

Sincerely,
Sandra Davis for the WinD team
