I’m continually amazed at how profoundly interested the Lord is in my personal life. This day, this week, this year is a season of learning for me in the realm of “His commandments.” Bible verses are coming more alive to me daily. Why? Because in my spiritual life the Lord has placed four different yet profoundly complementary tools before me. Let me explain.

1) My daily personal Bible Study is focusing in on the commands of God through the love of Christ.

2) The Bible study I lead in Psalm 119...The psalmists love for the commands of God and His daily practice of them.

3) My church is reading a prayer book by Pastor Torrey (19^th century preacher) on Prayer.   The focus in this book is on the commands of God from the Bible and how to apply them to life.

4) My Pastor is preaching verse by verse through the book of 1 John. This book of application for the Christian is all about understanding God’s commands and walking in obedience. This is truly the source of blessing to us.

The text says: “Believe in Jesus.” that means if I believe the Jesus of the Scripture I will shed hatred and love others. I will believe all the council of God in Christ Jesus for salvation. Believe a Savior Jesus not just a prophet Jesus. I will love to please Jesus by obeying His commands and other people will see.

 

The abiding only comes “inside Jesus” lock, stock and barrel. All of me desiring with every breath to walk, talk, pray, ponder, praise Jesus alone and to love others through His strength and by the Holy Spirit direction (John 14: 21,23)

 

Am I listening? He is speaking to each of us in this text! Are we willing to be submissive in the obedience?

Am I willing to step out of sins path and into holy living in every area of my life?

It’s only there that blessing and prayers are answered and joy can come!

A tall order but one that can be obtained “in Jesus name” alone!

Much to considering but what wonder is revealed in the considering!
