Weekly Devotionals 2006
Week 41
"Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him and he in God. And we have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God and God abides in him." 1 John 4: 15-16
Have you noticed lately the attack on Christians regarding "Jesus?" Here in the U.S. those of us who confess and profess Jesus Christ come in the flesh and is God with us (John 10:30) are marked. We are being accused of things so untrue that it reveals the true nature of man apart from the One True God. Jesus, Peter and John all warned of this assault.
Being aware of our true Christianity and resisting the impulse to retreat is essential as we prepare for Christ's second coming. We are to be truthful, Scriptural, loving, forgiving and humble. Again the word "love" is significant. The only way we as Christians can demonstrate our true faith is by being loving. As Jesus demonstrated so well when He taught, preached, and lived we likewise need to be strengthened for such a time as this.
Being in fellowship with Christ and being taught the true Gospel are essential to our welfare and the furthering of God's kingdom until He comes again! Doing this takes hard work, forgiveness of sin and prayer! God abides in His children. We Have His Spirit. We are to be His instruments being used willingly and freely for His glory.
Questions to Ponder:
How can you demonstrate God's abiding in you toward another individual today?
Is your life filled with the abiding love of God today?
Knowing God's word equips us for demonstrating God love through us. Are you equipped?
Jesus is coming again. May we be about His business, lovingly and purely.
Blessings to each of you,
Sandra Davis for all of us at the ministry center
