Weekly Devotionals
Week 46
“If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for the witness of God is this, that He has borne witness concerning His Son. The one who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the witness that God has borne concerning His Son. And the witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.”
1 John 5:9-12
Isn’t it important to understand Biblical teaching? John is repetitive and for good reason. We know this is absolutely essential to our health and well-being in Christian conduct and faith.
When your pastor preaches do you take him at his word or do you seek Spirit leading and documentation? John is here telling us that his testimony is important but “the testimony of God is greater.” What is this testimony? Refer to the passage above.
Paul spoke to the Gentiles in the book of Romans in chapter 8:16: “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God.” Again he writes to the Galatians in chapter 4:6: “And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying ‘Abba Father.’” This is very personal and reveals a wonderful relationship through Jesus toward us! Belief/faith can only come in the form of Jesus! God made flesh, incarnate and pure.
The narrow road living is not easy today but it is the only road to be on if you want to arrive at the destination of heaven with Father and Son. This truth today is not easily accepted and is considered “narrow minded.” Jesus meant it when He said that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life! May we be strengthened to share the Truth of Jesus without hindrance just like John did.
Questions to ponder:
Have you had an opportunity to share your faith in Jesus with someone this week?
A great witnessing tool is called the Roman Road. If you would like to know the verses just contact our ministry and we will send you verses and a brochure. (give us your address to mail)
May we each be ready, willing and able to share the Good News of Jesus,
