Weekly Devotionals for 2007 – The Psalms
January - Week One
Weekly Reading: Psalm 3
Another year is upon us – A.D. in the year of our Lord 2007! How powerful is the day? Another year closer to our Lord’s return.
This year will bring many challenges and praises! For the Believer, a focus on hope is always fruitful! With this theme of hope, it is my desire to explore the Psalms of David with you. His life is a demonstration in hope and perseverance and faith.
All the Psalms were written for worship. Psalm or Psalter lend power to the consideration that worship is the Sound of Heaven! The Psalms were actually the “original” Hymnbook of the nation of Israel. Many were laments, some were prophetic, all were inspired by God.
For this purpose we will enjoy a Year of Bible Psalms that hopefully will stir our hearts in worship, thanksgiving, humility and hope! As we see David (“a man after God’s own Heart”) writing his prayers to God, it is my desire that we all will be stirred to consider similar worship in the daily responses to the lives we are leading in this year of our Lord 2007.
We will begin with Psalm 3, entitled by some as a “Morning Prayer of Trust in God”. Please consider reading it today. I will share more with you next week.
Blessings come to all who trust in God alone.
