Weekly Devotionals for 2007 – The Psalms
February - Week Eight
Weekly Reading: Psalm 9
"For the needy will not always be forgotten, nor the hope of the afflicted perish forever." Psalm 9:18
God is just! He knows everything! He will one day take care of every injustice. David wrote Psalm 9 as a Psalm of thanksgiving for God’s justice.
It’s wonderful to see David’s heart in this Psalm. How often do we thank God for His justice? David did. As you read and meditate on this Psalm, notice how David begins with thanks to the LORD from his whole heart! He was verbal about God’s wonders. He knew God would take care of the enemies of his life!
God abides forever (v.7a). He rules in Perfect righteousness (v.8a). He is trustworthy (v10a). He remembers our cries (v.12b).
Our aim is to trust God to take care of all the injustices in this life, whether homegrown, corporate, national, or global in nature. He is able to care for the needy ones! We need to hold on to His hope today! And we need to be thankful! (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
With gratitude to our Trustworthy God!
