This Psalm is the first to simply be classified as: “A Prayer of David”. It is a compliment to Psalm 16 as well.

 

David here pleads fifteen plus petitions before the LORD! His words flow, seeking protection of the Lord!

 

These words flow with God-ward appeals. David’s confidence was obviously found in God alone. You have tested my heart; You have visited me in the night: You have tried me and have found nothing; I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress. (v. 3).

 

Again David uses such words (English translation from the Hebrew, of course):

You (God) will hear me…Incline Your ear to me…Show Your marvelous lovingkindness…You who save, keep me, hide me… These are prayers with passion and confidence.

 

Then to close, David writes: As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness. These are powerful prayed words; a worthy prayer for all of us today!!
