"May He grant you according to your heart’s desire, and fulfill all your purposes." Psalm 20:4
David, a man after God’s own heart, knew where to run in his prayer life. David was a man of war! God did not permit him to build the temple because of his warfare. He had talent when it came to war, but his guidance and strength came from God. This Psalm is actually a spoken ceremony on the eve of a battle. David and his army would first take time to cry out before God for strength, protection, wisdom and victory.
His Banner was God. The tribes were identified with flags, but as we read: Some boast in chariots and some in horses; but we will boast in the NAME of the LORD, our God (v. 7). David recognized from where his strength came. When the battle comes upon us, may we also run to God in prayer, faith and the power of the Name of Jesus! (Acts 4:8-12)
The world may boast in power, strength, and might, BUT there is no power in such things. Only God has the Real Power. (Deuteronomy 20:1-4; Isaiah 31:1-3)
May our boast be in the Lord always!
