Weekly Devotionals for 2007 – The Psalms
June - Week 25
"Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage! Yes, wait for the LORD." - Psalm 27:14
David was a man who had a healthy fear of God. He also walked in much adversity. His life ebbed and flowed in controversy and worship. This Psalm is a microcosm of David's life.
His prayer here begins with affirming his allegiance to God: his defense and his joy. (verses 1-6)
He moves into sharing with the LORD all his troubles and foes in verses 7-12.
Lastly, he concludes with the strength to persevere in all his ways. Thus, verse 14 is our verse for the week.
The pivotal and most compelling verse is: "One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD and to mediate in His temple." (Verse 4)
As a child of God, David's heart was ready for worship. We see this over and over again in His writings. As believers in Christ, this is to be our life purpose as well.
Like David, we too can ask the Lord to be the Defense of our life. He is, you know?! Let's live in His light today!
Beholding His glory in worship,
