David knew every inch of Israel. His time in the wilderness of Judah was marked well through this Psalm of worship. This Psalm is filled with God focus. His environment and physical conditions were not good, but he preferred to ponder on his loving God. Let's look further.
He begins with a powerful statement: "O God, You are my God.” He professes his allegiance and describes his passion for God. He seeks God early, with great soul thirst and with all his being. I wonder how much we are like David? He looks for God and finds Him, thus he sees God's power and glory. Do we look for God with such intensity? He praises God therefore with marrow and fatness (wholeheartedly)! How does our daily worship of God appear to God?
David describes his memory. He meditates in bed and during the night. He knows God is helping him! Do we have that passion and confidence? He knows God holds him in the most secure place: in the Right hand of the Father, safe and secure! Are we securely there today?
Lastly, David knows that evil will be dealt with by God, and that as long as he lives, his focus will be securely on God, his loving Protector. Wow! May this be said of each of us.
Standing Securely in Him!
