Weekly Devotionals for 2007 – The Psalms
November - Week 48
"O God hasten to deliver me; O LORD, hasten to my help! Let those be ashamed and humiliated who seek my life: Let those be turned back and dishonored who delight in my hurt. Let those be turned back because of their shame who say, Aha, Aha! Let all who seek Thee rejoice and be glad in Thee; And let those who love Thy salvation say continually, let God be magnified." (All of Psalm 70) (This is a great prayer for each of us every day!)
Psalm 86 is another Prayer of David. Such prayer calls as: "Incline Thine ear, O Lord;" "Be gracious to me O Lord;" "Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer;" "And give heed to the voice of my supplication;" “Teach me Thy way, O LORD;" "Turn to me and be gracious to me;" "Show me a sign for good" all reflect a man with a teachable, trusting, and hope filled heart for God. Life isn't easy for most of us. It's a difficult day we live in. Evil appears overwhelming most of the time. BUT God is greater and far superior to anything that this world tries to present. We can also bring prayers and supplications to God and we can be confident that He hears and answers in many ways. David praises God with these words: "I will give thanks to Thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart and will glorify Thy name forever!" Now that is a confident and powerful prayer for all of us today! During this season, may our hearts be focused on the Reality of Jesus and live by His Truth daily and be Thankful! Sandra Davis Director for Women in Discipleship
