Weekly Devotionals for 2007 – The Psalms
December - Week 51
"I will give thanks to Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Thy works, and my soul knows it very well." Psalm 139:14
It's exciting to read Psalm 139, especially at this time of year. We see God's omnipresence and omniscience very clearly. As one of my favorite passages in all of Scripture, I can see just how powerful our God is. Some 2000 years ago, Jesus miraculously entered Mary's womb to become a baby, fulfilling the Genesis 3:15 prophecy of a Messiah. Our God would use such means to bring about His divine Gift of Redemption. In this Psalm, we see just how all seeing our God is. He knew us even before our conception. (See Job 14:5) Our God holds us securely in Him. He holds our life breath. He has work for us. He thinks about us all the time. Just think of this: God the Father saw Jesus developing in that womb just like He saw us develop….Amazing thoughts! Finally, with wonderful dialog David says: "Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; And see if there be any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way." (v.23 and 24) Sounds like a good prayer for us daily! May our days be filled with truthful dialog with the Savior who came to earth as a little baby Boy!
