WALK OF GRACE - My Spiritual Service of Worship
(Taken from the Walk of Grace Study by Sandra J. Mikler Davis)
April - Week 5: Glory. What does this word mean? In the Old Testament, this word (Kabed #3513, Kabod #3519) was used as a verb to describe honor and glory given only to God. (Lexicon, p.1734)
God is to be placed high, to be honored above all else. Why? Because He is God!
Isaiah has a wonderful way of describing God . From chapter 25:1b he states:
For Thou has worked wonders, plans formed long ago, with perfect faithfulness.
Again in verse 4 He states encouraging words for the “brethren”. For Thou hast been a defense for the helpless, a defense for the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat;
We see in this passage, God's authority. He is head over all. He lives forever and ever. He is the greatest, most powerful, all glorious, all victorious, majestic, and exalted Lord. He is also the One who cares and tends to us with "perfect faithfulness." Exodus 15:11 states:
Who is like You among the gods, O LORD? Who is like You, majestic in holiness, awesome in praises, working wonders?
WOW! What a beautiful description this is of the One in which we praise and glory.
APPLICATION: What is one way I can give glory to God (place Him above all else) today? How is God my defense, refuge and shade in the daily challenges of life? May I be sure this week to praise Him for His perfect faithfulness to me. Enjoy walking in His shade this week, Sandra Davis, for the team at Women in Discipleship
