WALK OF GRACE - My Spiritual Service of Worship
(Taken from the Walk of Grace Study by Sandra J. Mikler Davis)

May - Week 2:

The Bible gives many accounts of the "glory of God." One moving account is found in the Book of Daniel.

Nebuchadnezzar was turned out of his high kingly position by God, because of sin in his life. For a season, he lived as a wild animal. At the end of this period of time, God saw him raise his eye toward heaven, and God graciously gave him back his throne. At that time, Nebuchadnezzar stated some profound and accurate words:

I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever; For His dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His kingdom endures from generation to generation. And all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, but He does according to His will in the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of earth; and no one can ward off His hand or say to Him, What hast Thou done?
Daniel 34:34b-35

God is sovereign over everyone, even powerful rulers. He alone is worthy of glory. He will humble those who try to exalt themselves. Once we have been humbled, we are better able to give God the praise and glory that He deserves.

APPLICATION:

Have I ever had a deeply humbling experience similar to Nebuchadnezzar’s?
What did I learn from it?
Afterwards, how did I give glory to God?

May we be humble and grateful every day for God’s hand of mercy and grace.
