WALK OF GRACE - My Spiritual Service of Worship

June - Week 2:
In our previous devotionals, we took time to give praise and glory to the one true light and life -- Almighty God. He alone is worthy of all praise and glory. We can participate in this joyful display of affection because of our standing in the beloved, through Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross for us. Praise and glory are related to the word "rejoice." Let's enjoy the sweetness of our Lord once again this week as we learn even more about His amazing grace. What does this word, "rejoice" mean? This word in the Old Testament is "samah" (#8055). It is a spontaneous emotional expression of extreme happiness expressed in a visible manner such as at a festival, holy day, wedding, harvest, or after victory in battle. (Hebrew Dictionary, p.118)
The word "glad" also represents "rejoicing." We see a great use of this word in Psalm 104: Let the glory of the LORD endure forever; Let the Lord be glad in His works; I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. Let my meditation be pleasing to Him; As for me, I shall be glad in the LORD.
Psalm 104: 31,33,34
APPLICATION:
Why did God command the people to rejoice? Do I need to be told to rejoice, or am I like the psalmist: joyfully overflowing with praise to God?
