WALK OF GRACE - My Spiritual Service of Worship
(Taken from the Walk of Grace Study by Sandra J. Mikler Davis)
I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.
"The person who spends time thinking thoughts of God will find tremendous depth and understanding that will touch all areas of his life. It is, after all, in meditation that we rise above ourselves (and the world) for the purpose of seeing God's plan in proper perspective. Only from such a vantage point can we see the spiritual realm clearly.
Bridgid E. Herman reminds us, 'Self-regard is the slum of the soul, and the supreme function of meditation is to lift us out of its squalor into the clear, pure air of the spiritual world.'
Meditation is equally meaningful because it allows the believer to cultivate a harvest of fresh creative thoughts…Meditating with a solidly biblical foundation is the best thinking in which man can engage."
(The Hour That Changes The World, pp.117-118)
Our thoughts ultimately determine our attitudes and actions.
Thus, it is very important to discipline our thoughts for good.
Meditating on God's Word stores up good thoughts in our hearts and minds and keeps us from entertaining wrong thoughts.
APPLICATION:
Is meditating on God's Word a habit in my life right now?
How can I apply these verses to my life today?
