WALK OF GRACE - My Spiritual Service of Worship
(Taken from the Walk of Grace Study by Sandra J. Mikler Davis)
August - Week 4:
The ministry of intercession, that of earnestly appealing on behalf of another, is especially important because it is the believer's common ground for Christian service…some preach, others teach, a few sing publicly, but all can pray. (The Hour That Changes The World, p.76-77)
From the Bible, we can look at Samuel to see another man who interceded for the people he served. From 1 Samuel 12:23,24a:
Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way: Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart
Samuel gives us a good example of intercession. He interceded for the people, and he committed himself to instruct them in godliness. As a result, they recognized their sin and their need for a mediator with God. Today Jesus is our Mediator. We can intercede for one another based on what Jesus has done for us. APPLICATION: Who do I need to intercede for today? Praying for others to recognize and confess sin is a necessary prayer request. When sin is recognized and confessed, then reconciliation can take place. Let's keep praying for others! Sandra Davis, for the team at Women in Discipleship
