WALK OF GRACE - My Spiritual Service of Worship
(Taken from the Walk of Grace Study by Sandra J. Mikler Davis)
Our focus of Devotion this week will be on the supplication of our hearts: seeking God for our every need and longing.
From
Matthew 7:7a, Jesus instructs the people to:
Ask and it shall be given to you ...
In
verse 8, He answers them with:
For everyone who asketh receiveth.
From these passages, we see the importance of asking.
God wants us to ask Him for our needs and requests.
A companion passage to Jesus' words can be found in
James 1:5-6:
If any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God ...
But let him ask in faith, not wavering ...
And again in 1 John 5:14 we are told:
and this is the confidence that we have in Him,
that if we ask any thing according to His will, He heareth us.
These calls to "
ask" come from Jesus as a personal invitation to approach Him in prayer. How wonderfully personal this Walk of Grace is in the relationship building of Jesus and the beloved. He desires our conversation with Him!
APPLICATION:
- Why does God wants me to ask Him for things or to inquire about things in my life?
- What am I asking God for today?
- Is my request God-focused or self-centered?
