WALK OF GRACE - My Spiritual Service of Worship
(Taken from the Walk of Grace Study by Sandra J. Mikler Davis)

October - Week 2:

This week let's consider the idea of seeking.

In Jeremiah 45:5a we find a key insight into the seeking process:
But you, are you seeking great things for yourself?
Do not seek them.

Oswald Chambers wrote:
Are you seeking great things for yourself? Not seeking to be a great one, but seeking great things from God for yourself? God wants you in a closer relationship to Himself than receiving His gifts, He wants you to get to know Him.
(My Utmost For His Highest, April 27)

Jeremiah 29:11-13
speaks volumes regarding "seeking" in a worthy manner:
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me,
and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me,
when ye shall search for me with all your heart. (KJV)

Our duty is to come to the throne of grace with a humble, sold out heart to the Lord for His will in our lives.

A passionate heart for Christ is most necessary for His expected answers to come forth to us.

APPLICATION:
The Lord is specific in His desire for us to love Him wholeheartedly.
  • When approaching the Lord in prayer, with what level of expectation do I "seek" Him for answers to my needs?
  • How am I demonstrating a sold out confidence in God for answers to my seeking heart today?
