WALK OF GRACE - My Spiritual Service of Worship
(Taken from the Walk of Grace Study by Sandra J. Mikler Davis)
December - Week 3: As we close our study, let's look briefly at the final phrase in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, which says:
for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
God wants us to understand what His will is, to believe that it is good and perfect, and to desire His will and follow Him obediently. To be a living and holy sacrifice acceptable to God, we need to revere God and abstain from evil in all areas of life. When the Spirit of God convicts us of sin, He never overwhelms us, but He points to one area at a time where we must yield to Christ. As we surrender to Him, we are in the process of the spiritual service of worship that God desires. This is to His glory, praise, and honor!
In Romans 12:2, we see that God desires the transformation of our minds. What we put into our minds and hearts instantly is absorbed and becomes part of us, whether it is good or evil. We must choose. By God’s grace we can be transformed. Our lives are to reflect God's glory by the power of the Holy Spirit. Then we can truly live lives of worship to God: rejoicing; praying; and giving thanks to Him each day.
APPLICATION:
Do I believe God's will for me is good and perfect? What am I doing to follow and obey His will in my life today?
Ephesians 3:20-21 says: Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.
What will your New Year yield for Christ? May your Walk of Grace continually be pleasing to the Lord. Sandra Davis, for the team at Women in Discipleship
