TO BEAR HIS NAME - Weekly Insights into the Names of God
(Taken from the To Bear HIs Name Study by Sandra J. Mikler Davis)
Jehovah
That man was created in the image of God is a divine mystery. Through just looking at some of the Jehovah passages, we see Him actively involved in mankind. When He created man, He, Jehovah, became visible for relationship building. The Bible is a revelation of who He is. It reveals the union of Jehovah with circumstances and lessons lived by people in the Bible who recognized and worshipped Jehovah.
Though the fig tree should not blossom and there be no fruit on the vines, Though the yield of the olive should fail and the fields produce no food, Though the flock should be cut off from the fold and there be no cattle in the stalls, Yet I will exult in the LORD. -- Habakkuk 3:17,18a
To have a personal relationship with the LORD Jehovah is to enjoy Him and worship Him, because He as an "Everlasting love" toward us. How incredible that is! Do we deserve it? No!
The LORD knows the condition of mankind. He tells us in Scripture that we are continually evil. However, at the right time LORD Jehovah appeared! (John 1) He tells us we will behold His face!
For the LORD is righteous, He loves righteousness; The upright will behold His face. -- Psalm 11:7
APPLICATION:
- Do I have a personal relationship with God, through faith in Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection, and a commitment to have Him be my LORD?
- How can I apply Habakkuk 3:17-18 to my life today?
