TO BEAR HIS NAME -
Weekly Insights into the Names of God (Taken from the To Bear HIs Name Study by Sandra J. Mikler Davis)
Jehovah
The LORD Jehovah is God’s personal name. This Supreme, Sacred and Proper name is given to our God, and is the only name that we will study that is of His person and not attached to His work. From Isaiah we receive a very profound acknowledgement of the LORD: 'I, even I, am the LORD, and there is no savior besides Me.
It is I who have declared and saved and proclaimed, and there was no strange god among you; So you are My witnesses,’ declares the LORD, ‘And I am God. Even from eternity I AM He; And there is none who can deliver out of My hand; I act and who can reverse it?’ Isaiah 43:11-13 He is the only One who saves! He is holy and righteous. Only One who is Righteous can save. His memorial name reveals His purpose for mankind! God said to Moses; ‘I AM WHO I AM’;
and He said, ‘Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, I AM has sent me to you.’ Exodus 3:14 When we examine the meaning of the words I AM we see that there is great importance: In the Hebrew a word called "yadah" means "know."
I AM = spelled YHWH in Hebrew and is without vowels The word yadah more specifically means "to know by instruction or observation." The I AM was first revealed to Moses at the burning bush. The LORD (Jehovah) would share His Memorial/Forever name with His people. APPLICATION:
