TO BEAR HIS NAME - Weekly Insights into the Names of God
(Taken from the To Bear HIs Name Study by Sandra J. Mikler Davis)
Jehovah
The sacrificial system of the Old Testament by Jehovah (LORD) had major significance for the world for all time. Through this practice, Jehovah was revealing to mankind the need for a clean, holy and pure sacrifice, which man could never produce. This life lesson points us to purity before Holy Jehovah. Restoration only could come through a Holy Sacrifice offered by Jehovah. Christ Jesus would be that answer, for He is the Savior appointed to be the ransom for our wicked sinfulness.
Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him… Colossians 3:9,10
Jehovah-LORD is self-existent, eternal, supreme, righteous, holy and sacred. Jehovah-LORD has actively pursued a love relationship with us from the beginning of time. Jehovah-LORD has provided a way for us to approach Him in Jesus, Jehovah, LORD and Lord. We have been created to bring Him joy.
Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth; serve the LORD with gladness; Come before Him with joyful singing. Know that the LORD Himself is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name. For the LORD is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting and His faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 100
