TO BEAR HIS NAME - Weekly Insights into the Names of God
(Taken from the To Bear HIs Name Study by Sandra J. Mikler Davis)
ELOHIM
To bear the name of Elohim is to stand with God in the belief of His creation. Elohim scatters the wicked, but gives rejoicing to the righteous.
He is a Father to the fatherless, and a provider for the widow. He makes a home for the lonely, and leads out the prisoner into a place of safety.
He is the God who causes the earth to quake, the waves to roar, and the rain to fall. Elohim is actively involved in the world we live in.
A father of the fatherless and a judge for the widows, Is God (Elohim) in His holy habitation. God (Elohim) makes a home for the lonely; He leads out the prisoners into prosperity ... Psalm 68:5,6a
APPLICATION:
- Am I feeling lonely today? If so, how can I apply Psalm 68 to my situation?
- How have I observed Elohim in nature within the past week?
- Who do I know who is a “prisoner” to something, and have I prayed for Elohim to deliver them?
