TO BEAR HIS NAME -
Weekly Insights into the Names of God
(Taken from the To Bear HIs Name Study by Sandra J. Mikler Davis)

Jehovah Tsidkenu - The LORD Our Righteousness

Last week we were introduced to “The LORD our Righteousness”, and saw from Leviticus 19:15 that we are to judge fairly, without partiality.

As we look around our world today, we see wrong ruling over right, and what is truly right is now mutated into something that most of the world views as “wrong”.
Even the courts of today appear to be swayed into error of thinking and ruling.

What are we to do?

I am reminded of the words written by Moses in Genesis 6:5:
Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

And in Romans 3:23:
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

But where there is no hope, we see the Author of Hope:
Jehovah Tsidkenu, the LORD our Righteousness.
I emphasize “our”, because He knows that we cannot be righteous in ourselves.

But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)….
so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves,
it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works,
which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
Ephesians 2:4, 5, 7-10

APPLICATION
:

  • As I look around me, what have I seen this week that is an example of good being mutated into "wrong"?
  • Have I come to the point of realizing that within myself I can do no good?
  • Re-read Ephesians 2 above, and write down each phrase that shows an act of God or Christ.
