TO BEAR HIS NAME - Weekly Insights into the Names of God

Jehovah Tsidkenu - The LORD Our Righteousness
Hosea the prophet lived during a wicked time in Israel’s divided kingdom history. The theme of this prophetic book was sin, judgment and forgiving love.
One of the most familiar passages of this book speaks volumes regarding the desire of Jehovah our Righteousness: for us to sow righteousness and reap kindness.
It is a call for every true believer to examine their call, and seek His righteousness in their lives.
Sow with a view to righteousness, reap in accordance with kindness; break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the LORD until He comes to rain righteousness on you. Hosea 10:12
The New Testament is filled with names ascribed to Righteousness in Jesus Christ. We can rejoice, because when we accept His coat of Righteousness, He gives to us a new heart and puts a new Spirit within us. Repentance of sins and a turning from wickedness yields the fruit of Righteousness.
He (God the Father) made Him (God the Son - Jesus) who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the Righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21
APPLICATION:
- In Hosea's day, there was much wickedness. Do I see the same thing today, and if so, how can I “sow with a view to righteousness”?
- According to Hosea 10:12, where does "righteousness" come from?
- In 2 Corinthians 5:21, how is Jesus described?
- Have I put on the "coat of Righteousness" through belief in Jesus Christ?
