TO BEAR HIS NAME
Weekly Insights into the Names of God
(Taken from the To Bear HIs Name Study by Sandra J. Mikler Davis)

JEHOVAH JIREH (Raah) - The LORD Who Provides - Week Four

In the study of Jehovah Jireh, we continue to see that the Lord Who Provides will indeed provide for His people.

Abraham was provided with a ram, instead of his son, for the sacrifice.
Later we saw Samuel anointing David as the new king of Israel.

The LORD'S provision in each case was His choosing, and not man’s.
The Lord asks of us to walk by faith in the circumstances of life, and to believe with obedient faith that He will provide for our welfare and His honor.

John the Baptist had faith that the Lord would provide also. He stated in John 1:29:

Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.

Jehovah Jireh - The Lord Who Provides had provided from before time began – the Perfect Lamb of God. This ultimate Gift is for all who will believe in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God.

Jehovah Jireh – The Lord Who Provides has certainly done so for us.
The Lord Jesus Christ is the Provided One who has taken the sacrificial death blow that the ram of Abraham’s story fulfilled.

In a “one time for all” act, Jesus paid the full penalty in providing for us a perfect sacrifice for our sin.

The Lord has provided His best for us. What a wonderful gift!!)

APPLICATION
:

Our sins have been atoned for through the willing sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.
  • Have I received Jesus Christ as my personal sacrifice for sin?
  • If not, am I willing to do so now?
  • If I have received Christ, when was the last time I purposely thanked Him for providing a way of salvation for me?
  • How can I demonstrate today who I am in Christ?
