JEHOVAH SABAOTH - The LORD of Hosts - Week 4
As we celebrate the birthday of Jesus, it is appropriate that we also celebrate the wonderful name JEHOVAH SABAOTH. The LORD of hosts is with us. His name is holy. We see Isaiah, many years before Christ, speak of Him with splendor and worship:
Seraphim stood above Him, each having six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said, 'Holy, Holy, Holy, is the LORD of hosts, the whole earth is full of His glory.' Isaiah 6:2-3.
Isaiah prophesied continually. In Isaiah 8 and 9, he speaks often of JEHOVAH SABAOTH - the LORD of hosts:
It is the LORD of hosts whom you should regard as holy. And He shall be your fear, and He shall be your dread. (Isaiah 8:13) Then He shall become a sanctuary….(Isaiah 8:14a)
Then Isaiah states: Behold, I and the children whom the LORD has given me are for signs and wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, who dwells on Mount Zion. (Isaiah 8:18)Once more Isaiah goes on in chapter 9 to state:
The people who walk in darkness will see a great light; Those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them….For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. On the throne of David and over His kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness from then on and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this. Isaiah 9:2,6,7
We have great reason to rejoice today. The LORD of hosts is with us!! He has accomplished VICTORY for us by His life, death and resurrection. We have reason to celebrate!!!
APPLICATION: Our duty as God’s elect is to share the Gospel. Today is a great day to do that. Be bold and share Jesus with someone today!! Sandra Davis, for the team at Women in Discipleship (sm)
