Weekly Devotional – 2010 The Red Thread Series
A wonderful “Red Thread” of salvation runs throughout the Bible, and each week we are looking at a different book of the Bible to see that Thread that leads to Jesus and God's perfect plan for redeeming mankind to Himself.
FEBRUARY - WEEK THREE
Book of the Bible: Judges Theme of the Book: God uses chosen servants in times of trouble Main Character(s): The Judges: including Gideon, Samson, and Deborah The “Red Thread”: During this time in Israel's history, God sent judges to deliver the people from their fallen state. This illustrated the need for a Savior who would eventually come to deliver mankind from the sin that so easily befalls him.
Key Verses: Judges 2:16-18
Then the LORD raised up judges who delivered them from the hands of those who plundered them. Yet they did not listen to their judges, for they played the harlot after other gods and bowed themselves down to them. They turned aside quickly from the way in which their fathers had walked in obeying the commandments of the LORD; they did not do as their fathers. When the LORD raised up judges for them, the LORD was with the judge and delivered them from the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for the LORD was moved to pity by their groaning because of those who oppressed and afflicted them.
