A wonderful “Red Thread” of salvation runs throughout the Bible, and each week we are looking at a different book of the Bible to see that Thread that leads to Jesus and God's perfect plan for redeeming mankind to Himself.
MARCH - WEEK ONE
Book of the Bible: I and II Samuel Theme of the Book: The nation of Israel is established as a kingdom, now ruled by a king. The Davidic covenant is established forever. Main Character(s): Eli, Hannah, Samuel, Saul, Jonathan, David, Bathsheba, Nathan, Absalom The “Red Thread”: Hannah's prayer reveals her anticipation of a future king appointed by God. The Davidic covenant pointed to God's promise of a Messiah who would be a descendant of King David.
Key Verses: 1 Samuel 2:10 and II Samuel 7:16
Those who contend with the LORD will be shattered; against them He will thunder in the heavens, the LORD will judge the ends of the earth; and He will give strength to His king, and will exalt the horn of His anointed. (From Hannah's song of Thanksgiving) And your house and your kingdom shall endure before Me forever; your throne shall be established forever. (spoken by Nathan the prophet to David)
