Weekly Devotional – 2010 The Red Thread Series
A wonderful “Red Thread” of salvation runs throughout the Bible, and each week we are looking at a different book of the Bible to see that Thread that leads to Jesus and God's perfect plan for redeeming mankind to Himself.
APRIL - WEEK THREE
Book of the Bible: Psalm Theme of the Book: The Song Book of Praises for the people of God; this book demonstrates to the reader the true heart for worship to God through poetry. Main Character(s): David, King of Israel, a man after God's own heart; he composed the majority of the Psalms. The “Red Thread”: Through the Psalms many references to Christ occur. The messianic Psalms refer to Christ as the "Son of David". We see messianic prophecies also fulfilled in these beautiful songs. (Examples: Psalm 2, 18, 20, 21, 24, 110, and 132)
Key Verses: Psalm 2:7 and 150:6
I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to Me, 'You are My Son,Today I have begotten You.'
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!
APPLICATION: From Psalm 1:1 to Psalm 150:6, we see praise, worship, confession, lament, and longing.
- When was the last time I treated myself to a GOOD READ through the Psalms?
