Weekly Devotional – 2010 The Red Thread Series
A wonderful “Red Thread” of salvation runs throughout the Bible, and each week we are looking at a different book of the Bible to see that Thread that leads to Jesus and God's perfect plan for redeeming mankind to Himself.
JUNE - WEEK TWO
Book of the Bible: Ezekiel Theme of the Book: Ezekiel documented his visions of Jerusalem's fall, overthrow of surrounding wicked nations, and the re-establishment of Israel’s future. (Special note: they shall know that I am God, is quoted 62 times in this Book) Main Character(s): Ezekiel, Israel's leaders, Ezekiel's wife, Nebuchadnezzar The “Red Thread”: Jesus Christ, the Great Shepherd, bringing the New Covenant of Peace to the nation of Israel is presented. (Future hope) Key Verses: Ezekiel 37: 24-28
My servant David will be king over them, and they will all have one shepherd; and they will walk in My ordinances and keep My statutes and observe them. They will live on the land that I gave to Jacob My servant, in which your fathers lived; and they will live on it, they, and their sons, and their sons' sons, forever, and David My servant will be their prince forever. I will make a covenant of peace with them; it will be an everlasting covenant with them. And I will place them and multiply them, and will set My sanctuary in their midst forever. My dwelling place also will be with them; and I will be their God, and they will be My people. And the nations will know that I am the LORD who sanctifies Israel, when My sanctuary is in their midst forever.'
APPLICATION: Ezekiel's Book is filled with Revelation prophecies. Our future is secure in Jesus Christ, the True Shepherd.
- Do I have Peace with Him, and am I living as one of His obedient sheep?
