Women In Discipleship
Weekly Devotional – 2010
The Red Thread Series

A wonderful “Red Thread” of salvation runs throughout the Bible, and each week we are looking at a different book of the Bible to see that Thread that leads to Jesus and God's perfect plan for redeeming mankind to Himself.

JUNE - WEEK THREE

Book of the Bible:  Daniel
Theme of the Book:  Daniel stands out as a man of God who from youth, through exile and loss of family and homeland, walked with loyalty and faith in God through the midst of testings and hardships.
This is a great book to read and study for young people.
Main Character(s):  Daniel, Nebuchadnezzar, Shadrach, Meshach, Abed-Nego, Belshazzar, Darius
The “Red Thread”:  The vision Daniel shares of the Son of Man coming as the "Ancient of Days" is magnificent.
The "Ancient of Days" addresses the eternal-everlasting nature of the Son of Man's position.
This name, Son of Man, Jesus used of Himself in Matthew 24:30; Mark 13:26 and Luke 21:27.

Key Verses:  Daniel 7:13-14

'I kept looking in the night visions, and behold,
with the clouds of heaven One like a Son of Man was coming,
And He came up to the Ancient of Days and was presented before Him.
And to Him was given dominion, glory, and a kingdom,
that all the peoples, nations and men of every language might serve Him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion which will not pass away;
and His kingdom is one which will not be destroyed.

APPLICATION:
Daniel knew that life was difficult, but he remained faithful to God.
  • How am I like Daniel in my present circumstances?
  • How am I unlike Daniel?
  • How can I trust God to help me be a loyal follower of Him as Daniel was?
