Weekly Devotional – 2010 The Red Thread Series
A wonderful “Red Thread” of salvation runs throughout the Bible, and each week we are looking at a different book of the Bible to see that Thread that leads to Jesus and God's perfect plan for redeeming mankind to Himself.
JUNE - WEEK FOUR
Book of the Bible: Hosea Theme of the Book: God gave a tough assignment for Hosea to deliver to Israel. His own stormy marriage would be used as a poignant object lesson for the nation's adultery against Almighty God. Main Character(s): Hosea, Gomer (his wife), and their children The “Red Thread”: Hosea is depicted as a faithful husband (like Christ) who has an unfaithful bride (Israel). Hosea depicts Christ’s position as Savior. Key Verses: Hosea 13:4
Yet I have been the LORD your God since the land of Egypt; and you were not to know any god except Me, for there is no savior besides Me.
APPLICATION: Hosea's life was filled with betrayal and sadness. God asked him to deliver a powerful message lived out in his own life. It affected him literally "where he lived."
- How is my present betrayal or sorrow being used as a faithful witness even in it’s severity?
- How can I live in victory though walking in the midst of the trials of my life?
