Weekly Devotional – 2010 The Red Thread Series
A wonderful “Red Thread” of salvation runs throughout the Bible, and each week we are looking at a different book of the Bible to see that Thread that leads to Jesus and God's perfect plan for redeeming mankind to Himself.
AUGUST - WEEK THREE
Book of the Bible: Zephaniah Theme of the Book: Repent, The Day of the Lord is at Hand Main Character(s): Zephaniah, and the people of Judah The “Red Thread”: In the promise of restoration, Zephaniah prophesies of the LORD God who is a "victorious warrior" who will exult over you with joy ... Key Verses: Zephaniah 1:14-15; 2:3; and 3:17
Near is the great day of the LORD, near and coming very quickly; Listen, the day of the LORD! In it the warrior cries out bitterly. A day of wrath is that day, a day of trouble and distress, A day of destruction and desolation, a day of darkness and gloom, A day of clouds and thick darkness. Seek the LORD, all you humble of the earth Who have carried out His ordinances; Seek righteousness, seek humility. Perhaps you will be hidden in the day of the LORD'S anger. The LORD your God is in your midst, a victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.
APPLICATION: The Day of the Lord gets closer every day. Confession and repentance are God’s call to salvation.
- How is my heart today?
- Am I sharing Christ’s salvation with a dying world?
- Will the Lord exult over me with joy?
