Weekly Devotional – 2010 The Red Thread Series
A wonderful “Red Thread” of salvation runs throughout the Bible, and each week we are looking at a different book of the Bible to see that Thread that leads to Jesus and God's perfect plan for redeeming mankind to Himself.
SEPTEMBER - WEEK TWO
Book of the Bible: Matthew Theme of the Book: The Promised Messiah (King) enters our world and the Jewish prophecy is fulfilled in Jesus Main Character(s): Jesus, Mary and Joseph, John the Baptist, the 12 disciples, the religious leaders (including Caiaphas and Pilate) The “Red Thread”: Over 60 times, Matthew speaks clearly of the fulfillment of Old Testament Prophecy about Messiah Jesus. His emphasis of Jesus as royalty, with the use of "Son of David", points to The King of kings. Key Verses: Matthew 1:21 and 16:16-17
'And she will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins. Simon Peter answered, 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.' And Jesus said to him, 'Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.'
APPLICATION: Jesus is the Messiah of prophecy. He is the Son of the living God.
- Have I surrendered my life to Him?
