Women In Discipleship
Weekly Devotional – 2010 The Red Thread Series
A wonderful “Red Thread” of salvation runs throughout the Bible, and each week we are looking at a different book of the Bible to see that Thread that leads to Jesus and God's perfect plan for redeeming mankind to Himself.
SEPTEMBER - WEEK THREE
Book of the Bible: Mark Theme of the Book: The account of Jesus as the Suffering Servant, told in a moving style to a Gentile audience, powerfully revealing the humility of Jesus as He reconciled mankind to God Main Character(s): Jesus, the 12 disciples, Pilate, Jewish leaders The “Red Thread”: Mark introduces the reader to Jesus’ humble deeds, and as the prophesied Suffering Servant (Zechariah 9:9). Key Verses: Mark 1:14-15,17 and 16:15
'Now after John had been taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the Gospel of God, and saying, 'The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the Gospel.' And Jesus said to them, 'Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.' And He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation.'
APPLICATION: Jesus was a humble God-man who obeyed His Father perfectly.
His mission was to reconcile the world to Himself.
His reconciliation was to come in the form of teaching on repentance and believing.
His ministry would demonstrate that completely.
- How is this Gospel being lived out in my life today?
- In my home?
- In my world?
