Women In Discipleship
Weekly Devotional – 2010 The Red Thread Series
A wonderful “Red Thread” of salvation runs throughout the Bible, and each week we are looking at a different book of the Bible to see that Thread that leads to Jesus and God's perfect plan for redeeming mankind to Himself.
OCTOBER - WEEK THREE
Book of the Bible: Romans Theme of the Book: A comprehensive work containing the rich doctrine and practical instruction of Christian discipleship, which makes this a book to be read, studied and practiced Main Character(s): Paul, Phoebe, Roman Believers The “Red Thread”: A doctrinal work, presenting Christ as the Redeemer; the declaration of Paul that faith in Christ alone is the bridge to saving faith and a relationship with God the Father; the key is justification through the work of Jesus on the cross Key Verses: Romans 3:23; 6:23; 5:8; 10:13; 10:9; and 12:1
For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God... For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. For 'Whoever will call on the Name of Lord will be saved. That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.
APPLICATION: The verses presented above are often called THE ROMANS' ROAD when presenting the Gospel. It is a wonderful tool in sharing our faith with others.
