Women In Discipleship
Weekly Devotional – 2010 The Red Thread Series
A wonderful “Red Thread” of salvation runs throughout the Bible, and each week we are looking at a different book of the Bible to see that Thread that leads to Jesus and God's perfect plan for redeeming mankind to Himself.
NOVEMBER - WEEK THREE
Book of the Bible: Philippians Theme of the Book: Paul delivers a heartfelt testimony of the true joy and strength he has experienced in his deep relationship with Christ, lived out whether in prison or not. It teaches Believers how to truly live with joy and peace in Christ. Main Character(s): Paul, Timothy, Epaphroditus, Euodia, Syntyche The “Red Thread”: Paul's testimony of what Jesus Christ had done for him, prompting Believers to also be Christ-like. Key Verses: Philippians 1:21; 2:9-11 and 13; 4:6 and 13
For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father…....for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
APPLICATION: Is it difficult for you to have joy today? Examine why you are anxious and seek God, with thanksgiving, for what you can recognize now of His goodness.
- Does my daily life reflect the things of this world or of the next?
