Weekly Devotional – 2010 The Red Thread Series
A wonderful “Red Thread” of salvation runs throughout the Bible, and each week we are looking at a different book of the Bible to see that Thread that leads to Jesus and God's perfect plan for redeeming mankind to Himself.
NOVEMBER - WEEK FIVE
Book of the Bible: 1 and 2nd Thessalonians Theme of the Book: Two letters written to the church in Thessalonica: The first letter was to encourage them, then to warn them of false teaching, and to bring Hope to a church that was persecuted. In the second letter, Paul challenges them to not grow complacent. Main Character(s): Paul, Silas and Timothy The “Red Thread”: First Thessalonians stresses the return of Christ and the hope Christ brings to Believers. Second Thessalonians discusses the effects of Christ’s second coming; both for the saved and the unsaved. Key Verses: 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3; 5:16-18; 2 Thessalonians 3:6
We give thanks to God always for all of you, making mention of you in our prayers; constantly bearing in mind your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of our God and Father... Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from every brother who leads an unruly life and not according to the tradition which you received from us.
APPLICATION:
- What might others speak of me regarding Faith, Hope and Jesus Christ?
- How does my life reflect that of rejoicing, prayer and giving of thanks?
- What company do I keep?
- Is it reflective of my life as a Christian?
