Weekly Devotional – 2010 The Red Thread Series
A wonderful “Red Thread” of salvation runs throughout the Bible, and each week we are looking at a different book of the Bible to see that Thread that leads to Jesus and God's perfect plan for redeeming mankind to Himself.
DECEMBER - WEEK THREE
Book of the Bible: Philemon Theme of the Book: Paul writes to a fellow Believer regarding a slave who has run away, is converted, is now spiritually equal, and in need of forgiveness. Main Character(s): Paul, Philemon, Onesimus The “Red Thread”: Paul takes upon himself the penalty of Onesimus as a run away slave by using the illustration of Christ and the Father in the Redemption of our sin debt. Key Verses: Philemon 15 and 16
For perhaps he was for this reason separated from you for a while, that you would have him back forever, no longer as a slave, but more than a slave, a beloved brother, especially to me, but how much more to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord.
APPLICATION: This small book is filled with amazing truth about Grace and Forgiveness.
- Who do I need to forgive today?
- How can I be a “beloved brother or sister” in the Lord through my tender heart to love the unlovely, and forgive the one who has offended me?
This time of year can be a great time to restore relationships... Sandy Davis, for the team at Women In Discipleship (sm) womenindiscipleship.org – P.O. Box 694, Goldenrod, FL, 32733 – (407) 325-2986
