WEEKLY DEVOTIONALS – 2011
The Bible – Absolute Truth – Week 8

2 Corinthians 3:18

But we all, with unveiled face,

beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord,

are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory,

just as from the Lord, the Spirit..

If you are reading this devotional series you are interested in spiritual growth and Biblical Truth.

Pastor John MacArthur states:

Living to God’s glory then, is living the kind of life that manifests godliness,

that puts God on display, that reveals Christ in our lives. (sermon code 1389)

He goes further:

Only as we live to the glory of God do we grow

and our key verse is 2 Corinthians 3:18 which says

as we with unveiled face, in other words we have clear vision,

‘behold in a mirror the glory of the Lord’,

and that mirror is the Word of God (the Bible) that reflects it to us.

As we gaze at the glory of the Lord, now mark this,

we are changed into His image from one level of glory to another.

MacArthur’s words give us food for thought!  People ask for proof of these truths.

Listen to John the Apostle’s statement about his Gospel:

This is the disciple who is testifying to these things

      and wrote these things,

and we know that His (Jesus’) testimony is true. (John 21:24)

Luke, the physician who wrote another Gospel states this:

To these (true believers only) He also presented Himself (Jesus)

after His suffering, by many convincing proofs

appearing to them over a period of 40 days

and speaking of the things concerning the Kingdom of God. (Acts 1:3)

THOUGHTS TO PONDER THIS WEEK

  • Eyewitness testimony, in any court, is viable proof indeed
  • Salvation is God’s work upon mankind
  • Belief (faith) comes to us as a gift of God to Believers
  • Jesus tells us in John 20:29:

Because you have seen Me, have you believed?
Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed.
