WEEKLY DEVOTIONALS – 2011
The Bible – Absolute Truth – Week 10
TRUTH SIX = Jesus testifies of His Word, calling the Bible "Scripture" and "The Word of God."
'He who sees Me sees the One who sent Me. I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness…He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the Word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.' John 12:45,46,48
Jesus was sent by God (v.49) and was given a commandment to fulfill (v.49).
He came to bring salvation (v.47).
In His own words, He states Absolute Truth as directed by His Father.
In addition, Jesus accepted historical persons written about in the Old Testament as real and actual.
(Adam and Eve in Matthew 19:4-5; Noah and the flood in Matthew 24:37-39;
Jonah in Matthew 12:38-41.)
Jesus used Scripture, The Old Testament, as conclusive evidence in answering His critics. (Matthew 22:32, quoting Exodus 3:6 and 15).
Most amazing, Jesus used the Authority of Scripture to refute satan in the desert. (Matthew 4:4,7, and 10)
THOUGHTS TO PONDER THIS WEEK
- Jesus named the Bible the WORD OF GOD.
- Jesus knew the truth of the Old Testament history.
- Why is it that so many doubt the historically accurate accounts?
- Jesus used His Word to do battle with satan.
- How well do you know the Word in the battles you face each day?
